Who We Are

ABB is one of the world’s leading power and automation engineering companies. We provide solutions for secure, energy-efficient generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, and for increasing productivity in industrial, commercial and utility operations.

The ABB Group employs more than 150,000 people in over 100 countries. Each of our customers benefits from sharing ABB’s research, supply, manufacturing, distribution, information technology and benchmarking capabilities.

In Australia, the history of ABB goes back to the late nineteenth century. Today, ABB has operations in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Darwin and Melbourne. With over 2000 employees located at our 13 sites, customers are served through an extensive country-wide presence.

What We Do

Spread over five divisions, our portfolio ranges from light switches to robots for painting cars and packing food, and from huge electrical transformers to control systems that manage entire power networks, vast mining operations and state-of-the-art factories.

In ABB, we have a proud history of many ‘firsts’. In 2012, ABB Australia patented another world first – technology to recycle SF6 gas to technical grade purity. ABB’s technology can effectively close the loop on this greenhouse gas, the significance of which was recognised in ABB being awarded a prestigious Banksia Environmental award.

Underpinning all the work we do, is our emphasis on safety and quality. The health and safety of our people and our customers is a fundamental part of our commitment to sustainability. We care deeply about how our operations and products affect our employees, customers, contractors and our neighbours.
