Selective Laser Sintered (SLS) coloured Parts Now Available

Fomero can now supply SLS prototypes with a permanent surface coloring in a range of colors including black, charcoal, red, burgundy, blue, dark blue, tan, yellow and silver. The new service is branded ColourFast SLS and was initiated as a direct result of customer demand for functional parts with high temperature applications and color identification.

Laser sintered components are now finding themselves in a much wider range of applications, some of which can be transformed by the application of color.

The usual approach of painting the parts has its limitations, with most paints not adhering very well and potentially creating fitment concerns. The recently released ColourFast SLS service offers permanent surface coloring for SLS components.

Assemblies become clearer, components can be highlighted, and resilience to handling discoloration enhanced.

Wesley Archer, Fomero’s SLS Team Leader says "Black is by far the most common requirement and has had a huge impact. Customers are very pleased with the visual impact that is combined with the high functionality of Nylon and Glass Filled Nylon.
