New Web Tool For Businesses to Find the Right Advice

The Australian Government’s small business website has a new Google mapping tool that is putting small businesses in touch with their nearest business advisor.

Minister for Small Business, Senator Nick Sherry, and Member for Eden-Monaro, Dr Mike Kelly MP, launched business.gov.au’s Advisor Finder tool at a business breakfast in Queanbeyan this morning.

“Advisor Finder is the first online tool to put small businesses Australia-wide in touch with their nearest government funded advisor,” Senator Sherry said.

“If a business has a query about tax, employing staff, dispute resolution or grants, Advisor Finder puts them in touch with the right person.

“The Australian Government has a range of programs dedicated to providing expert, one-on-one advice to small business – but many businesses don’t know that advice is available to them, let alone where they can access it,” Senator Sherry said.

A national network of more than 200 advisors is listed on Advisor Finder, including Business Enterprise Centres Australia, the Australian Tax Office, the Fair Work Ombudsman and Regional Development Australia.

“Advisor Finder is free and easy to use. You simply enter your industry, location and the type of advice you’re after. The relevant advisors are displayed on a Google map with details of how to get in touch with them,” Dr Kelly said.

“The Gillard Government knows the importance of saving hard-working businesses time and money and this is a valuable new tool for small businesses.

“I know many local businesses in my electorate will able to make good use of Advisor Finder and I urge them to take a look at all the advisory services the Government has in place to assist them,” Dr Kelly said.

Senator Sherry said Advisor Finder is the latest in a suite of free tools available on the top 10 Australian business information website, business.gov.au.

“With almost two million visits each month, business.gov.au is a valuable and popular service for small business.

“business.gov.au saves businesses time and money by providing the information they need in one location. It is a one-stop shop for information and tools to help start, run and grow a business.”
