From concept design to a winning product

Formero’s manufacturing solutions help BAT Logic enjoy medal winning success.

Sports engineering is an industry built on stringent standards of product quality and performance. BAT Logic had recently developed the Bioseries range of products designed to optimise the foot position for rowers, increasing leg drive, reducing injury and providing greater efficiency of energy use. Time to market without compromising on quality was a critical factor for BAT Logic when they chose to work with Formero in late 2009. In just a few months, Formero’s accelerated product to market capabilities enabled BAT Logic to present their Bioseries products in international competitions within months, and bring home over 35 medals in world cup events.

Formero provided prototyping, tooling production, injection moulding, packaging, distribution and project management for the Bioseries range of products.

When the company first approached Formero the product was still in the concept design stage. Design validation was critical as rowing is a sport with one of the most harsh environments and powerful athletes. Formero supplied BAT Logic with functional prototypes that were field tested by athletes. Future manufacturing road blocks were eliminated in the design stage by Formero’s engineers, streamlining soon after the tooling and the injection moulding of the various parts. Concurrently, Formero started working with BAT Logic on the packaging solution, coordinating the various component suppliers and planning logistics, assuring the Bioseries range of products makes it to market on time. According to the company’s design director James Kennedy, Formero has been efficient and detailed with their handling of all aspects of the project and has delivered on their promises. “Being able to provide athletes with prototype products which they could use with confidence in racing and training, which exhibited the functional qualities of a final production product helped us to make accurate and quick decisions for final tooling.” he added. To date BAT Logic has seen their Bioseries acquire over 35 medals in 3 world cup events and look forward to further product development and manufacturing opportunities with Formero.
