Formero's Selective laser Melting (SLM) Machine Arrives

Innovative Metal Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology has arrived!

Formero is very proud to announce the arrival of Australia’s first Selective Laser Melting (SLM) machine from MTT Germany.

SLM is one of the newly recognized Additive Manufacturing technologies, that delivers digitally manufactured parts in Metal. Just like many companies are now using polymer or plastic Rapid Prototype systems for low volume production, SLM opens up the same freedom of design but in Metal.

SLM uses commercially available metallic powders to produce fully dense metal parts in materials including Titanium, Stainless Steel, Cobalt Chrome and Tool Steel.  

Over the next couple of weeks the SLM machine will be undertaking initial testing, calibration and parameter setting for Titanium. Later in the year, other materials will be added to the SLM service when it is made commercially available. Formero will keep you posted.
