Rosebank Engineering's Ultra Precision Centre Has Been Opened in Melbourne

Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Procurement Greg Combet has opened the $12 million Rosebank Engineering Ultra Precision Centre (UPC) in Melbourne’s outer eastern suburbs.

“The Ultra Precision Centre is the only facility of its kind in Australia,” Mr Combet said.

“Its technologies place Rosebank Engineering at the forefront of global aerospace technology and ensures that major Australian defence assets such as the FA-18 Hornet will receive through life support and extended life support within Australia.”

“The UPC offers the highest level capability to support military platforms including the F/A-18 Hornet, P3 Orion, C130, PC9, Caribou aircraft and Sea King, Seahawk and MRH 90 helicopters,” Rosebank Engineering General Manager Craig Butler said.

“Importantly, this new centre enables Rosebank to focus on the future and supporting emerging technologies such as the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV).

The Rosebank Engineering facility and its UPC contains advanced manufacturing technology that enables the company to provide state-of-the-art support in the areas of precision manufacture, supersonic particle deposition, repair, overhaul and engineering with a particular focus on components for aircraft flight critical controls, including flight control servo systems, landing gear, wheels and brakes and other military and civil aerospace and defence components.
