Sad Day for Manufacturing
7 Dec 11
The announcement of Heather Ridout standing down from being CEO of the Australian Industry Group leaves big shoes to fill.
Heather Ridout is leaving the Australian Industry Group (AIG) to take up a position on the board of the Reserve Bank after nearly a decade of service with the AIG, where Ms Ridout was most successful as the spokeswoman for Industry and the Manufacturing Sector in particular.
AIG has been instrumental in being the voice of industry to government, being the intermediary between industry and government, and more recently being an active voice in Government programs set up to support industry, representing the views of industry at a Government level.
AMTIL which produces the popular AMT Magazine had featured an editorial from Ms Ridout and the AIG each month which will be sadly missed. It is hoped that Ms Ridout's successor will continue to represent the interests of industry in such a strong manner, and find that necessary balance between political puppetry and being the voice of industry to Government, and importantly having input that counts and is listened to.
