3D laser cutting is an extension of the regular 2D CO2 laser cutting process. This process requires a special laser cutter with the ability to cut on more than 2 axis. The cutting head is typically mounted on a robotic arm or a cutting head with multiple axis of movement, and is able to be programmed to cut at any angle in 3 dimensions.
3D laser cutters are typically used to perform cuts on assembled or formed sheet metal components, hollow steel sections such as RHS, welded structures and assemblies. 3D cutters also have a large application on production lines and can greatly assist speeding up of cutting operations.
