Wire cutting is commonly used by toolmakers typically for tool steel cutting or to accurately cut metal components for punch tools, injection moulding tools, and stamping tools. EDM wirecutting is a versatile, accurate process for which cutting paths can be created directly off 2D or 3D CAD data. EDM wire cutting puts almost no heat into the material being cut and exerts no cutting force making also ideal for cutting small, delicate parts. EDM wire cutting is also very commonly used for metal inserts cutting and cutting punches in toolmaking.
