Custom electrical enclosures are typically manufactured using sheet metal fabrication techniques. Enclosures can also be made from moulded or fabricated plastics. Electrical enclosures need to be designed specifically for the materials they will be made from.
Sheetmetal enclosures need to be designed using a sheetmetal design package that automatically includes bending allowances, corner reliefs, folding clearances and generates the flat cutting patterns and folding centrelines.
Plastic enclosure design will depend on the method being used such as fabrication, injection moulding, rotational moulding or thermoforming.
