Machining Processes - Slotting or Slot Cutting

Slotting is a machining process used to cut short, straight features into a work piece. Slotters can be a dedicated machine or an attachment to a conventional milling machine. A slotting machine will usually use some sort of form tool to cut features such as internal keyways, splines and internal gear teeth.
