Metal Forging - Heading, Hot Heading
Register a free buyer account to lodge a Request For Quote for hot heading or forging and receive quotes online.
Hot heading is a hot forging process which increases all or part of the cross-sectional area of a metal bar stock.
Hot heading is a process closely related to upset forging. However, hot heading occurs at the end of the bar whereas upset forging can be performed anywhere along the length of the bar.
Hot heading is typically used to produce bolt heads, valve heads and other shapes where the head of the component is larger than the remaining cross section, hence the name. Hot heading allows the forging of much larger parts than cold heading due to the lower forces required.
