Structural fabrication refers to the use of metal fabrication techniques to manufacture components or assemblies for use in various structures. This may involve fabrication of beams, columns and other members for sheds and buildings. Structural fabrication may also be applied to fabrication of components for bridges, large plant, cranes, gantries, boilers, chassis, transport equipment, pressure vessels and almost anything required to support a load, withstand a force or contain a pressure safely.

It is common for structural fabrication to meet certain codes, standards and certification levels to ensure the completed structure presents no risk of injury to the public.

Large structural fabrication manufacturers often have automated processes such as CNC beamline processing, automated sandblasting and painting lines, and CNC plate processing lines.
