Some electronic components are mounted onto a PCB using surface mounting technology. The typical process for surface mounting is to apply a sticky solder past to a PCB using screen printing techniques. The PCB is then populated with electronic components with a pick and place robot. The components are held in position by the sticky solder paste. The PCBs are then fed through a programmable reflow oven to melt the solder and create the soldered joints. The final step is usually a test of the completed circuit using a 'bed of nails' PCB tester.
