Welding of tubing can have 2 meanings. The first description of tube welding simply involves the welding together of tubular materials to fabricate structures which also applies to pipe fabrication. Applications of this may include crane jibs, high performance automotive chassis, air frames, fluid or gas transfer tubes and hand rails.
Another description of tube weldment is the manufacture of welded tubular materials. This process involves rolling the tubular product into shape from a flat, continuous piece of material and completing the process by finish welding the seam. This process is typically used to produce seam welded tubes. RHS, and SHS steel products.
Pipe fabrication is a specialist area of fabrication. Pipe fabricators cut and weld pipes to manufacture products and structures such as oil and gas pipelines, tank farm manifolds, process plant pipelines, water pipelines, desalination plant pipelines, slurry pipelines and more.
Pipe fabrication need not be limited to steel pipes. Pipelines can also be made from fiberglass, composites, concrete and plastics.
