Welding and Joining Processes - Structural Welding
Login to get an online quote for structural welding or conduct an advanced search of our network.
Structural welding is a specialist welding field with high demands on quality results. Structural welding is the process name given to the joining of metal components to form structural supporting assemblies. Because the assemblies are typically supporting structures or lifting equipment, there are risks of injury or death in the event of weld failure. For this reason structural welding is governed by welder qualification and certification procedures.
Some common examples of applications for structural welding are the welding of crane jibs, roof trusses, steel building frames, crane gantries, oil drilling equipment, amusement park rides, rollover protection systems(ROPS), falling object protection systems(FOPS), vehicle and heavy transport chassis and anywhere the public’s safety is in danger from sub-standard welds.
Welders carrying out this type of welding are usually required to provide proof of their level of certification and regularly submit their work for testing by approved testing authorities.
