Coating and Plating Processes - Electroless Plating, Electroless Nickel
Electroless plating refers to the plating processes that use a chemical reaction to deposit the coating rather than passing an electrical current through the components and plating bath. Electroless plating applies a smooth, uniform coating to all exposed surfaces. Because the electroless plating process does not require the continuous current to pass through the component, components can be plating using automated, high volume methods such as rack plating or barrel plating (where small components are rotated in a barrel immersed int he solution). The most common electroless coating is electroless nickel which provides a strong corrosion resistant layer having a high hardness value.
