Coating and Plating Processes - PTFE, Teflon Coating and Plating, PTFE Nickel Plating
PTFE and/or Teflon can be coated by spraying or plated on by impregnating it into other plating materials such as nickel. Each of these processes imparts a low-friction, wear resistant surface to the component. In the case of plating, the surface becomes both low-friction and hard wearing due to the high hardness of the nickel coating. PTFE or teflon coatings are also applied to impart non-stick surfaces fr cooking utensils or blow moulding tools.
